The Chattanooga women's basketball summer series: "Take Five" will introduce fans to the 2019-20 roster.
Â
In her sophomore year of college,
Liz Wood got a wild hair to join the women's basketball team as a walk-on. She worked out with the team, traveled to most of the road trips and played in a few games. At the end of the year, she was awarded a scholarship and will continue her journey.
Â
"It took a while to feel like I was part of the team," Liz said. "It was towards the end of the year, honestly. I was a level behind but I just kept pushing through and trying to keep my head up. It wasn't until the end of the year when they offered me a scholarship that I felt like I fit."
Â
In her first season, she wore #00 because the number she wanted: #13 wasn't available. After wearing #21 in middle school and #10 in high school, she sought the advice of her sister and opted for #11, taking one number from each to form her new one.
