Take Five with Kallie Searcy

The Chattanooga women's basketball summer series: "Take Five" will introduce fans to the 2019-20 roster.

Kallie (pronounced KAY-lee) Searcy joins Chattanooga from Western Kentucky. The stage at UTC will be no problem for the former model and pageant winner.

"I started doing pageants in sixth grade because I told one of my teachers in my little hometown where I used to live that I was going to do it. She told me I couldn't win so I was like 'wow!' I did the pageant and, of course, I won."

She continued on with pageants until she reached her junior year then she decided to stop in order to concentrate on basketball and where she was going to go to college. However, she did begin modeling about that time.

"I modeled throughout my junior and senior years," she said. "It was good. I liked doing face or portrait modeling."

She has many other talents like drawing and painting and was also a swimmer.

The coaching staff at UTC was what drew her UTC as well as the fact that she already knew some of the players, having played ball with them in high school.

"Coach Katie and the assistant coaches were very welcoming and inviting."

Watch out for her at the zoo looking at the elephants or giraffes. "They're big. I can relate to them."
