ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
BIRMINGHAM---The Chattanooga Mocs finished eighth in the Graeme McDowell Invitational Tuesday afternoon after a final round card of 296. That gave the group a total of 885 for 54 holes at Greystone Golf & Country Club.
Connor Nolan's level-par 72 led the Mocs. It was his second straight par or better card as he ended the event tied for 17th at even-par 216.
Will Porter and
Matt Smith shot twin 73s (+1), while
A.J. Lintunen's 78 closed the counters for the day.
Moritz Lammel saw his 80 dropped.
Porter ended the trek tied for 27th at 3 over (219). Lammel's 227 was next on the squad's ledger ahead of Smith (228) and Lintunen (232).
North Florida (850) claimed a narrow 1-stroke victory over host UAB. Arkansas State (854) was third. Western Kentucky's Linus Lo won medalist honors with a 9-under 207.
Next up is a trip to the west coast. The Mocs take on the field at Cal's Alister Mackenzie Invitational Oct. 7-8 at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.

3 NOTES TO KNOW
- Second career par or better finish for Connor Nolan. Career low was 1-under 215 last April at the Old Waverly Collegiate. It's his fifth career top 20 (15 events), third in seven team starts.
- 13 birdies for Nolan is one off his career high for a tournament. Matt Smith had 12 for the second straight event.
- Nolan's two par or better cards gives him 12 for his career. Will Porter's in round two gives him the team's active lead with 21 which is one ahead of Oliver Simonsen at 20.
