The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team hosts a pair of home matches this weekend. The Mocs welcome Belmont on Friday, Jan. 31, and USC Upstate on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Both matches take place at 7:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) at McCallie School's Strang-Voges Tennis Center. Live scoring is set with links available on the women's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
The Mocs are 2-0 after wins over Union College and Austin Peay on the opening weekend. Junior
Emma Van Hee leads the team with 2-0 marks in singles and doubles. She is playing the No. 4 position in singles and No. 1 in doubles with sophomore
Caroline Gibbens.
"The team is excited to have a few home matches at McCallie this weekend," stated head coach
Chad Camper. "Both Belmont and USC-Upstate are up-and-coming programs and it will take effort and mental toughness to be successful."
The Mocs are 11-1 all-time against Belmont and this is the fourth year in a row UTC faces the Bruins. Chattanooga has won each of the previous three meetings by 5-2 final scores, including last year's match in Nashville on Feb. 9.
Belmont brings a 2-1 mark into the weekend, including wins over Cumberland (7-0) and Western Carolina (6-1). The lone loss was a 5-2 setback against Campbell on Monday.
UTC is taking on USC Upstate for the second times in as many years. The Mocs scored a 5-2 win against the Spartans in the previous meeting on Feb. 24, 2019, in Chattanooga. Upstate has dropped 7-0 matches to Wofford and Furman to open spring play.
