Mocs Travel to ETSU Saturday for SoCon Matchup

MOCS TRAVEL TO ETSU FOR SATURDAY SOCON MATCHUP
 
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's basketball team will hit the road this weekend for a Saturday matchup at East Tennessee State. The Mocs and Bucs will face off at 1:00 p.m. at Brooks Gym. The game will be streamed on the SoCon Digital Network and Larry Ward will provide the play-by-play on WFLI 1480 AM and 95.7 FM. MOCS vs. BUCS
The Mocs and Bucs first met on the court in 1975 before both became members of the Southern Conference and the NCAA in 1982. UTC leads the series 57-24 but ETSU has won three of the last four meetings including the last in Johnson City last season.
 
CHATTANOOGA
After starting the SoCon slate with a 3-1 record, beating Western Carolina in the opener and then posting back-to-back wins over Wofford and Furman, both picked to finish at the top of the league. The Mocs are 3-3 and in the middle of the standings. UTC is third in the SoCon for free throws made (.723), fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (.295) and fourth in 3-point field goal defense (.316).
 
Lakelyn Bouldin leads UTC in scoring with 11.6 points game and is 57th in the NCAA for free throw shooting making 82.9 percent of her attempts. Eboni Williams has a team-best 8.5 rebounds per game 15 blocked shots and 30 steals. She is second on the team in scoring with 8.8 points per game. Bria Dial leads the Mocs beyond the arc with 32 from distance. She is third on the team in scoring (8.6 ppg) and rebounding (3.9 rpg). She has 13 blocked shots and 26 steals.
 
EAST TENNESSEE STATE
The Bucs are one game behind Chattanooga in the SoCon standings at 2-4. They average 58.1 points and 34.5 rebounds per game. After posting a win over Western Carolina in the opening week of league play, the Bucs fell to Furman and Wofford, but rebounded with a win against Mercer on the road.
 
Micah Scheetz leads the team with 15.1 points per game and is the only ETSU player in double figures after the departure of Erica Haynes-Overton who suffered a season-ending injury early in the year. Tijuana Kimbro leads the SoCon in blocked shots with 41 on the year and leads the Bucs in rebounding with 6.5 per game. Kaia Upton has a team-best 40 steals and 80 assists.
