CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs come home 5-0 and ready to finish a busy, busy week. Four games from Saturday to Saturday has that effect. That stretch ends Saturday afternoon with a visit from North Georgia.

The Mocs are undefeated this late in the season for the second time in the DI era. It's just the seventh 5-0 start in school history and first since 1987-88. The other five: 1929, 1930, 1972-73, 1973-74 & 1974-75.

Sophomore Malachi Smith is a big part of the equation. He's posted double-doubles in four of his first five games as a Moc after sitting out last season as a transfer from Wright State. Smith averages 15.0 points, 11.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per contest.

Redshirt freshman Jamaal Walker, a Chattanooga native, is providing strong work off the bench. His average rose to 6.6 points per game after a 15-point outburst at Bellarmine Wednesday night. Walker leads the Southern Conference in 3pt shooting making a robust 64.3 percent.

North Georgia comes to the Scenic City at 0-0, but this is its third game. The Nighthawks are a DII program in the Peach Belt Conference. Saturday is an exhibition game for the Dahlonega quintet. It's the third such exhibition with losses at Mercer (79-48) and Georgia (84-62). UNG officially opens the season Jan. 6 at home in a conference matchup with Flagler.

The contest is on ESPN+ along with WFLI 97.7 FM/1070 AM in Chattanooga as well as the TuneIn app.
