CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team will take the court Sunday for the first time this season, hosting UAB in a non-conference matchup at the McKenzie Arena.

Tickets: No fans outside of the student-athlete families will be allowed to attend the women's game through the end of December due to the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in Hamilton County.
CHATTANOOGA VS. UAB
The Mocs and Blazers first met in 1980 in Maclellan Gym. It was a tight match with UAB coming away with a 75-73 win. Sunce that time, UTC has won 20 of the next 34 meetings including an eight-game win streak during the Wes Moore era. This will mark the second time the two teams have met in the Mocs' season-opener. The last time was in the 2011-12 Preseason WNIT. UTC won 65-59.
THE LAST MEETING
The last time the two teams met was in the first round of the 2018 WNIT in Birmingham. The Blazers won the contest 60-50, snapping the Mocs eight-game win streak against UAB.

This will be the Mocs season-opening game. The first two games were cancelled due to COVID-19 issues. UTC returns three of the top four scorers from last season in senior
Bria Dial and juniors
Eboni Williams and
Abbey Cornelius. Williams led the Mocs in steals and rebounds and Cornelius was the top shot blocker and second in rebounding.
ABOUT UAB
The Blazers opened the season against NAIA opponent Edward Waters College out of Jacksonville, Fla. UAB dominated the game starting out with a 23-9 first quarter lead. Junior Margaret Whitley posted a career-high 23 points including four 3-pointers and was one of three Blazers making their first career start. UAB shot 43.1 percent from the floor and had 51 rebounds. Zakyia Weathersby had 15 points with a team-high nine boards.
