MocsVision Takes Chattanooga Fans Back to 1993

Thursday's Facebook Watch Party re-broadcasts the regular season finale for the 1993 Southern Conference Champion Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team.

ABOUT CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL

CHATTANOOGA---The Southern Conference Champion Chattanooga Mocs closed out the regular season against Georgia Southern on Feb. 28, 1993. It was the regular season finale for a team that already clinched the league title, but there was still history on the line.

MocsVision looked into its vault and found the broadcast of the contest. It's headed for a Facebook Watch Party tonight, March 19, at 8 p.m. Fans can watch and comment live during the broadcast. There's even a rumor "Voice of the Mocs" Jim Reynolds plans to be "wall side" to add his unique perspective.

The 1993 edition won the league by four games over ETSU and the Eagles. Two records were on the line. A win would tie the school record for regular season wins with 23 with the 1982 and 1983 championship squads. It also meant 16 league wins which would be a new conference record in the SoCon's long history dating back to 1921.

SoCon Player of the Year Tim Brooks had one of the finest seasons in league history for a point guard. He averaged 16.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists & 2.2 steals per game. Four others - Gary Robb (14.2), Chad Copeland (13.3), Brandon Born (11.9) & Tee Jay Jackson (10.2) - also scored in double figures with Daymond Woods (9.6) close.

The squad's 20+ regular season triumphs was one of 12 times the program won 20 or more in the regular season. This year's squad missed that by one game.
