TEAM
- Chattanooga dropped its first Southern Conference road game of the season 84-79 at VMI…Mocs are 9-2 overall, 0-2 in the SoCon, while Keydets are now 6-5, 1-1 in league play.
- 10th 9-2 start to a season. The last was 2015-16 opening 13-2.
- The loss snaps the Mocs 7-game road winning streak. It tied the school record originally set Jan. 20, 1992 through Nov. 27, 1992. It was the seventh longest run of road triumphs in the nation entering today. 9-2 in last 11 road contests.

- One key stat entering today featured fouls and free throw shooting. The Mocs were No. 9 in fouls per game (14.2), while VMI was 3rd in FT shooting (81.6%). The Scenic City brigade was whistled 17 times with several coming at the end of the game during comeback bid as the hosts made 18 of 23 (78.3%).
- Another came at the 3pt arc where the Mocs led the SoCon in 3pt percentage defense (27.1%) allowing 4.6 made per game. VMI was third in 3pt percentage (37.5) and second in 3pt made per game (11.3) averaging 13.1 more attempts per game (30.1) than the Mocs usually allow (17.0). Held VMI to 17 attempts but allowed 58.8 percent shooting with the hosts hitting 10. The 10 threes made are a season high for an opponent.
- 84 points are the most allowed by the Mocs this season. VMI is just the fourth team to top 68 points this season against UTC.
- VMI shot 50.9 percent from the field, fourth opponent to record 50 percent or better, 2-2 on those occasions. Chattanooga managed 46.2 percent (30-65), but only 29.6 percent (8-27) from long range.

- Career-high 29 points for
David Jean-Baptiste. He passed Casey Long (2004-07) and Keith Nelson (1991-92) in 30th al-time in scoring with 1,062. That puts him eight behind Johnny Taylor's (1996-97) 1,070.
- Jean-Baptiste's four 3pt gives him 159 for his career jumping Ronrico White (2012-15) and Ricky Taylor (2009-12) into a tie for ninth all-time with Brandon Born (1992-95) with 159.

Malachi Smith added to his national lead with his eighth double-double scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He also leads the country in total rebounds with 111.
- Stefan Kenić got halfway to a triple-double with 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two blocks. 19 points is his second-best career total and top number against a SoCon opponent.
