MATCH NOTES
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA
Chattanooga (2-0, 0-0 SoCon) looks to start the season 3-0 for just the fifth time in program history, and the third time under head coach Travis Filar (since 2011). The Mocs are coming off non-conference home wins against Georgia State (3-2) and North Alabama (3-0). UTC has dropped each of the last six meetings with the Spartans including 12-straight in Greensboro. The Mocs last win over UNCG came on September 23, 2017.

ABOUT UNCG
UNCG (0-0, 0-0 SoCon) will compete in its first match of the 2020-21 season after not competing in the fall portion and seeing its Wednesday match against North Carolina A&T and Friday tilt against Davidson postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions. The Spartans finished 11-20, 5-11 SoCon in 2019 and return six upperclassmen and six sophomores while welcoming three freshmen.

MOCS DEFEAT UNA IN IMPRESSIVE, CONSISTENT FASHION
Chattanooga swept North Alabama, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-18), last Friday evening in convincing fashion. UTC out-attacked UNA in kills (45-27) and hitting percentage (.227-.044) and out-defended in digs (60-46). The .044 attack percentage is the second-lowest mark UTC has allowed since 9/29/2017.

BOSSONG CONTINUES RECORD START TO COLLEGIATE CAREER
True freshmen setter Sophia Bossong (Murfressboro, Tenn.) is off to a blistering start in her UTC career. She totaled 101 assists in eight sets over her first two matches, becoming the first setter to accomplish the feat since Lauren Greenspoon in 2015. Bossong is 2nd in NCAA DI in assists per set (12.62).

DEFENSIVE EFFORTS NEAR TOP OF THE COUNTRY
Chattanooga's 18.25 digs/set average currently ranks 17th in NCAA DI out of 163 teams. Freshman libero Paige Gallentine (Fenton, Mich.) leads the SoCon and ranks 5th in NCAA DI with a 6.12 digs per set average. Junior Brenna Everingham (Noblesville, Ind.) chipped in with 13 digs in Friday's win.
