Men’s Basketball Hosts Covenant in Special Hamilton County Literacy Game

The Chattanooga Mocs host the nearby Scots and will welcome over 7,000 local elementary students as part of Hamilton County Literacy Day in McKenzie Arena.

CHATTANOOGA --- Coming off a thrilling 56-54 win at VCU on Saturday, the 4-0 Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team returns to McKenzie Arena to host NCAA Division III member Covenant College in a special Tuesday morning game at 11 a.m. ET as part of 'Hamilton County Literacy Day'. The game will be broadcasted LIVE on ESPN+.

The game will welcome nearly 7,000 local students as the initiative is to promote literacy to the 3rd and 5th grade students in the Hamilton County School System. Members of the men's basketball team have been visiting classrooms in the area over the past few weeks, reading to the students and talking about the balance of academics and athletics.

Organizations such as Coca-Cola, Students First, Hamilton County Schools and its cleaning services are greatly appreciated in helping create this opportunity for these students. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga would like to thank the Admissions Office and the Department of Diversity and Engagement for providing all students with UTC goodie bags at the game.

Chattanooga is in the midst of a 16-game non-conference win streak following Saturday's buzzer-beating win over VCU. The Mocs are ranked No. 21 in the Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll and were recently featured as a "Team to Consider" in NCAA.com's Andy Katz "Power 36" rankings.
