MOCS SPREAD THE WEALTH IN EXHIBITION WIN

Freshman Destiny McClendon led all scorers in the game with 14 points on 3-of-4 from beyond the line. Dena Jarrells dropped in four from distance for 12 points and Abbey Cornelius had 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots. Karsen Murphy, Leah Jones and Addie Grace Porter each pulled down five rebounds. UTC had 14 assists and 10 turnovers with seven blocked shots.

MOCS LET IT RAIN
The Mocs were 10-of-26 from the 3-point line in their exhibition win over Georgia College Friday night. Dena Jarrells and Destiny McClendon combined for seven.

VETERANS LEADING THE ROSTER
The Mocs return four starters including center Abbey Cornelius who was selected to the Southern Conference Coaches Preseason All-Conference Team. Sigrún Ólafsdóttir will move from the point to her more natural position on the wing while Dena Jarrells will see more time leading the team.

MOCS IN OPENING GAMES
The Mocs have opened the season at home 20 times and won 14 of those including a win over #20 Tennessee in 2012. In all season-opening games, the Mocs are 25-22. In first home gaes of the year at home, UTC is 31-16.

NEWCOMERS VYING FOR PLAYING TIME
The Mocs welcome five newcomers this season and all will be competing for time on the court. Addie Grace Porter comes from Lebanon, Tenn., and Leah Jones is out of Memphis but attended high school across the border in Mississippi. Destiny McClendon hales from Georgia while Karsen Murphy transfers to Tennessee from Montana. Lara Habling was a late addition to the team, coming from Hungary.

NOT LETTING UP ON THE COMPETITION
The Mocs schedule this season is peppered with high-talent competition including SEC foes Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Alabama. Others on the slate are Cincinnati, UAB, Kennesaw State, Belmont and Georgia State.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR
UTC has four international players on the roster this season, the most ever for the women's team. Pare Pene is from New Zealand. Sigrún Ólafsdóttir comes to the U.S. from Iceland and Lara Habling is from Hungary. Ruona Uwusiaba went to high school in Georgia but is a native of Nigeria with most of her family still there.

FANS RETURN TO MCKENZIE ARENA
Fans were not allowed inside the McKenzie Arena to watch the games for much of the 2020-21 season. That has changed this year with season tickets on sale.

HOME GAMES
The Mocs host 15 home games this season including the exhibition against Georgia College, the season-opener against Belmont as well as Alabama, Cincinnati and Georgia State.

DOUBLE DIPS ON THE SCHEDULE
The Mocs men's and women's basketball teams will combine for three double headers this season. The first is a non-conference meeting between UTC and Georgia State. The men will host former SoCon rival College of Charleston. On February 5, the women matchup against Samford will follow the men's game against Mercer. Senior Day will see the women take on Wofford followed by the men's game against Samford.

LONG-RANGE BOMBERS
The Mocs have made at least one 3-pointer in 676 consecutive games dating back to December 1999. That's nearly 22 years! Chattanooga reached the 600-consecutive game mark against UT Martin on November 28, 2018 at the Roundhouse. According to current unofficial research, this is the second-longest streak in the nation behind Iowa State who has more than 800 dating back to 1995.

OPENING THE BOOK ON SEASON 48
UTC begins its 48th season of play as a Division I team and has had just six coaches in it's history. The Mocs are 894-498 (.642) over 47 years, averaging just under 20 wins per season.

REGULAR SEASON TITLES
The Mocs have won 22 regular season SoCon titles finishing in the SoCon's first three-way tie last year. Sharon Fanning won the first three beginning in 1984. Craig Parrott won two in his tenure. Wes Moore led the Mocs to 12 in 15 years. Jim Foster won the regular season in four of his five seasons at Chattanooga and Katie Burrows claimed her first last year.

28TH WINNING NON-CONFERENCE SLATE
The Mocs went 5-4 in non-conference play last season marking the 28th time that UTC has posted a winning record outside of the SoCon.
