Mocs Host UNC Asheville Monday Afternoon

Faculty and Staff Appreciation Game and Ugly Holiday Sweater game.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Dig out your favorite "ugly holiday sweater", leave work early and come cheer on the Mocs against UNC Asheville in a 2:00 p.m. tilt at the McKenzie Arena Monday. All faculty and staff with a valid MOCS ID card get free admission as well as popcorn and a soft drink from the concession stand.
 
The Mocs are coming off back-to-back hard-fought games, falling to Cincinnati and North Alabama at home last week.

CHATTANOOGA vs. UNC ASHEVILLE
This will be the fifth meeting between Chattanooga and UNC Asheville. The Mocs lead the series 4-0 and have won twice at home. The last time they met was in 2006 in the Roundhouse.
 
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
The last meeting between the Mocs and Bulldogs was in the 2006-07 season at The McKenzie Arena. UTC came away with a 72-59 victory. Four players scored in double figures led by Alex Anderson with 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Shanara Hollinquest added 14 points and eight rebounds and had three steals. Brooke Hand and Jenaya Wade-Fray each added 12 points while Laura Hall had nine points, four assists and three steals. The Mocs led by seven at the half and pushed the lead to 13 with the final points.
 
NOTES
- Abbey Cornelius recorded five blocked shots against North Alabama. It is the fifth time in her career that she has five blocked shots in a game. She moves to third all-time at UTC with 113, passing Arianne Whitaker (109).
- Dena Jarrells dropped in a career-high five 3-pointers against Cincinnati, one shy of the McKenzie Arena record for a Chattanooga player. Eight others have made six 3-pointers in a game.
- Abbey Cornelius leads the SoCon in blocked shots per game (1.4) and defensive rebounds per game (8.1).
- Dena Jarrells leads the SoCon with 3.4 assists per game
 
UP NEXT
The Mocs will hit the road for its next five games including a trip to Knoxville on December 27 to take on Tennessee at Thompson-Boling Arena. That will be followed with the non-conference finale at Jacksonville State on Dec. 30.
 
The Southern Conference season will open January 6 at Samford followed by a game at Mercer two days later and a trip to East Tennessee State the next week.
