CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's basketball team will hit the road to take on Jacksonville State in the Mocs non-conference finale Thursday night.

The Mocs are 2-12 on the year with wins over Tennessee State on the road and UNC Asheville at home.
Abbey Cornelius leads the team in scoring (13.6) and rebounding (9.3) and is ranked nationally for defensive rebounds (8.1) and leads the Southern Conference.

Jacksonville State is 8-3 overall with a win over SoCon foes Samford (56-53) and ETSU (61-48). The Gamecocks have won six of their last seven contests and includes a win over Indiana State and a loss at Houston. Nekiyah Thompson is the only JSU player in double digits with 10.6 per game. Kennedy Gavin averages 9.3 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game.

This will be the 11th meeting between Chattanooga and Jacksonville State. UTC leads the series 9-1. The Mocs won the first two games in 1977 and Jacksonville State claimed its only win in 1978. The Mocs are on a seven-game win streak against the Gamecocks. UTC is 3-1 against Jacksonville State on the road.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
Chattanooga came away with a 68- 53 win over Jacksonville State on the road in the last meeting in the 2013-14 season. Ashlen Dewart and Taylor Hall combined for a pair of double-doubles. Dewart scored a season-high 25 points with 10 rebounds while Hall was just shy of a triple-double with 10 points, 11 boards and eight assists.
After leading the entire first half, the Mocs fell behind 33-32 at the start of the second. The advantage bounced back and forth eight times and the Mocs grabbed their largest lead of the game, 63-47 with 3:10 to play.
All 13 players saw action in the contest and Aryanna Gilbert got her first career start. UTC shot 53.3 percent (30-57) for the game and was 6-of-13 from the 3-point line. At the stripe, the Mocs shot 2-of-7 and outrebounded the Gamecocks 40-28.
