ABOUT CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL
Â
CHATTANOOGA---There's not a more special night in McKenzie Arena than when ETSU visits. Since the Roundhouse opened in 1982, there have been many battles but still a healthy respect among combatants. Another awaits with a lot on the line in 2021.
Â
The Mocs are riding a 4-game win streak. The Bucs snapped a brief losing skid by whipping Wofford by 22, 71-49, on Saturday. Both squads are primed for a race to the finish in the league race with the all-important tournament in Asheville awaiting.
Â
But first is a Monday Roundhouse date. The first meeting between the two teams saw the Mocs dominate through the first three media timeouts of both halves to a tune of 41-20. The Bucs closed each half strong. Chattanooga led for 38:16.1, ETSU 0:10.9. The guests needed a heroic shot by
A.J. Caldwell to celebrate in Johnson City.
Â
The race to Asheville is bunched up. Just three games separate second place ETSU (8-4) and seventh-place Mercer (5-7). The Mocs continue to scale the standings and lie just 2.5 games out of first (UNCG, 10-3).
Â
It's a busy week with three games over six days - ETSU (Mon.), Western Carolina (Wed.) and at UNCG (Sat.). It's center stage for the Mocs and Bucs as the only SoCon matchup.
