Women Basketball Hosts Furman Thursday

Cancer Awareness Game; Mocs to honor former head coach Grace Keith

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's basketball team returns home for its final two games of the season. UTC will host Furman Thursday, Feb. 24 at The McKenzie Arena in its Cancer Awareness Game.

MOCS vs. FURMAN
This will be the 86th meeting between the Mocs and Paladins since first meeting in 1985. UTC leads the series 56-29. In the SoCon regular season, the Mocs are 49-26 and lead 26-10 at home.
 
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
The free throw line was the difference in the Mocs loss at Furman. The Paladins were 15-of-18 from the charity stripe while Chattanooga made just one on four chances. The teams were nearly identical from the field with UTC making 21 compared to Furman's 22. However, UTC was 7-of-17 from the 3-point line while the Paladins made 4-of-15. Dena Jarrells led the Mocs with 14 points and was the only UTC player in double digits. Sigrun Olafsdottir and Amaria Pugh added nine points each and Abbey Cornelius was shy of a double-double with eight points and eight rebounds. Tierra Hodges dominated the boards with a game-best 17 and added 22 points for her own double-double. Grace van Rij was 7-of-8 from the line for 13 points in the game.
 
UP NEXT
The Mocs will host Wofford on Saturday, February 26 in the season finale. It will be the first game of a double-header with the men's team. Prior to the game, the Mocs will honor senior Pare Pene who will play her final game in the Roundhouse.
