Men's Basketball Welcomes Streaking Samford for Senior Day on Saturday

The Chattanooga Mocs will honor five seniors ahead of Saturday’s contest against a Samford team who has won their last six games and surged in the SoCon standings.

CHATTANOOGA --- The 2021-22 Southern Conference regular season champion Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team gets set for its final home game of the season when it hosts red-hot Samford on Senior Day Saturday afternoon inside McKenzie Arena. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

The game will be the second leg of a doubleheader as the UTC women's team takes on Wofford at 1:30 p.m. ET. The game will be 'Senior Day' as the program will recognize five student-athletes: Josh Ayeni, Darius Banks, Avery Diggs, David Jean-Baptiste and Silvio De Sousa, before the game.

Chattanooga (23-7, 13-4 SoCon) wrapped up the regular season title, No. 1 seed in next week's tournament, and an automatic berth into the 2022 National Invite Tournament (NIT) following an 83-77 win over rival ETSU on Wednesday in Johnson City. The title marks the program's 12th SoCon regular season crown (excluding division titles) and first since 2015-16.

Samford (20-9, 10-7 SoCon) enters the game as one of the hottest teams, not only in the SoCon, but in the country. The Bulldogs have won their last six games, all by single digits, to pull within a game of second-place Furman (11-6) in the league standings. Samford defeated the Mocs in Birmingham earlier this year, 80-72, on February 2.

The game vs. Samford can be streamed on ESPN+ through the Watch ESPN platform. Fans can also listen LIVE on WFLI 96.1 FM/100.3 FM/1070 AM in Chattanooga as well as the Varsity Network app.

The change to 96.1 adds the audio reach by roughly 100,000 homes while 100.3 expands the overall coverage further north of the Tennessee River especially strengthening the signal in Hixson and Soddy-Daisy.
