THE LAST TIME THEY MET
The Mocs scored a thrilling double-overtime victory last month over the Bulldogs last month in Birmingham. Chattanooga trailed 47-40 headed into the fourth quarter and outscored Samford 20-13 in the final frame, tying the game 60-60 on a free throw from
Abbey Cornelius with two seconds remaining in regulation. In the first overtime, Samford's Andrea Cournoyer tied the game on a 3-pointer with six seconds on the clock, forcing a second overtime. The Mocs struck first in the extra period with a layup from
Amaria Pugh. The Bulldogs responded with a short jumper of their own. Cornelius got a putback to give UTC the lead again with 1:14 remaining, but Samford responded with a layup of its own to tie it up 69-69 with 52 seconds on the clock. After missed 3-pointers from each team, the Mocs grabbed a defensive board with four seconds left and advanced the ball. Sigrun Olafdottir inbounded the ball to Cornelius who turned and fed Pugh down the right side. Pugh and her defender deflected the ball to the other side of the lane to a wide-open
Brooke Hampel who hit the game winner with 0.4 seconds!
