CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's basketball team finished the Southern Conference regular season tied for fifth with UNCG and ETSU and earned the No. 6 seed. UTC will take on third-seeded Furman Thursday at 5:45 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Championships at the Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, N.C.

This will be the third meeting between the Mocs and Paladins this season and second in a week's time with Furman holding a 2-0 advantage over UTC.

th meeting between the Mocs and Paladins and 11
th in the Southern Conference Tournament. UTC leads the overall series 56-30 and 7-3 in Tournament action. The Paladins have won the last two tournament meetings including 2021.

ABOUT THE MOCS
Chattanooga finished the season 7-22 overall and 5-9 in league play, tied for fifth in the standings. The Mocs average 60.2 points and 33.8 rebounds per game. From the field, UTC is shooting 38.4 percent, third in the SoCon standings and 28.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Mocs are third in the SoCon from the charity stripe, making 71.3 percent.

Abbey Cornelius missed several games due to injury and made her return against Wofford in limited time. She leads UTC with 12.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. She is second in the SoCon with 1.4 blocked shots per game. She ranks in the Top 20 in the NCAA for defensive rebounds.

Dena Jarrells 10.7 points per game and has a team-best 56 3-pointers. She is second on the team in assists with 75 and leads the Mocs in steals with 40.

Brooke Hampel is third on the team in scoring with 9.0 points per game,
Sigrun Olafsdottir is second for rebounds with 4.3 per game and leads the team in assists with 79.

Addie Grace Porter has seen significant time in her rookie campaign, making several starts. She averages 4.1 rebounds and 6.3 points per game, is second on the team in 3-pointers made and third for assists.

Pare Pene is the lone "senior" on the team this season. All others are expected to return next season including
Abbey Cornelius,
Amaria Pugh and
Brooke Hampel.
