Armour Blasts Two Home Runs, Softball Secures Series Sweep over ETSU

Mocs down Bucs, 6-1

CHATTANOOGA – The Chattanooga Mocs' softball team swept the weekend series over their in-state rival East Tennessee State on Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 victory at Frost Stadium.

Reagan Armour led the offense for the Mocs with two home runs and five RBI.

Chattanooga moved to 21-15 overall and 5-1 in SoCon action, while ETSU dropped to 5-28 and 1-5 in league play.

The Mocs return to the diamond on Saturday, April 9 as the team heads to Greensboro to face league-leading UNCG for a three-game series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
ETSU was able to put three runners on in the first on two walks and a hit by pitch but could not take advantage of the opportunity. Brooke Parrott got the Bucs' three-hole hitter to ground into a 5-3 double play. After the visitors had two on, Liz Rodebaugh threw out ETSU's stolen base attempt at third to end the threat.

In the bottom of the first, the Mocs plated five runs on four walks and a grand slam off the bat of Armour. ETSU got one run back in the second, taking advantage of a hit batter with the bases loaded. Through two, the Mocs led 5-1.

Armour plated the seventh and final run of the contest in the sixth with a solo shot to left, giving the Mocs the 6-1 win.

Hannah Wood picked up the win for ETSU, tossing five shutout innings in relief with two strikeouts and a pair of hits. Parrott started the game and went two innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits with a strikeout.

Kaili Snell and Acelynn Sellers joined Armour in the hit column. Emily Cotlharp, Olivia Lipari, Sellers and Rodebaugh all walked.

ETSU's Whitley Arnott threw three innings and allowed one run on three hits with seven strikeouts, a career high.
