Women’s Tennis Signs USF Transfer Lucia Garrigues-Melendez

CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team and head coach Chad Camper have added University of South Florida transfer Lucia Garrigues-Melendez to the upcoming 2022-23 roster, the program announced Monday morning.

Garrigues-Melendez competed as a freshman and sophomore at USF during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. She will be listed as a junior and will carry three years of remaining eligibility due to the COVID blanket year.

"It's great to add Lucia to the roster. She is a veteran in college tennis and I really think her best years are ahead of her," said head coach Camper. "Lucia will add some quality depth on the team and a different style to the program."

The Valencia, Spain native appeared in 23 matches during her two seasons with the Bulls, competing in a mix of both singles and doubles action. She picked up a victory in singles at the No. 6 spot during the 2020-21 campaign while posting three singles victories during her rookie season in 2019-20.

The Chattanooga women's tennis team will be announcing additional signings ahead of the 2022-23 season in the coming days. Stick to GoMocs.com for all updates.
