CHATTANOOGA---One of the unique events in collegiate wrestling takes place this week with the annual Blue-Gold Exhibition. It returns to the friendly confines inside the Pavilion at Finley Stadium with 11 bouts on tap.
 
"This is always a great experience for our guys," Coach Kyle Ruschell noted. "It's a really cool atmosphere and a chance for us to maybe reach Mocs fans that aren't as connected with our program, while bringing our die-hard fans who maybe don't get out to as many other events to football.
 
"It's going to be a beautiful day and a chance to first put what we have on display, and then cheer on our football team against a big rival in ETSU. Just a classic win-win."
 
A win-win it is. The wrestlers are deep into preparation for the 2023-24 season. It starts Nov. 4 with the Southeast Open in Salem, Va., before the opening duals a week later at Ohio while also matching up with Ashland. The first home event is Dec. 16 with Little Rock and Queens coming to the Scenic City.
 
Nov. 4 isn't exactly the first match for a Moc. Junior 149 Noah Castillo unofficially gets it started Oct. 24-25 at the WORLD Championships in Albania. Castilo, a Florida native, is wrestling for Puerto Rico where his mom was born.
 
But first things first. The Blue-Gold match hits the mats this Saturday. The complete 11-match bout list:

The matches start at 10 a.m., in the Pavilion. Season tickets are available and start as low as $45 for UTC employees/alumni and $55 for general public.
