Men’s Basketball’s Honor Huff Named to All-Southern Conference Preseason Team, Team Picked Fifth in Both Coaches & Media Polls

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball team earned a first-place vote in the coaches poll and ultimately finished fifth in both preseason polls.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. --- With the 2023 Southern Conference Basketball Media Day festivities in full swing inside the Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, N.C., on Wednesday, it's time for the official SoCon preseason laurels and polls to be released publicly following its announcement at the event.

Chattanooga was picked to finish fifth in both polls (coaches and media) while the program captured a first-place vote in the poll voted upon by fellow league coaches. The top five schools remained the same, although one minor flip, in both polls. Furman was picked as the unanimous favorite.

Ready to take the floor for the first time in a UTC uniform and also set for his first game action since 2021-22, sophomore guard Honor Huff was selected to the 2023-24 Preseason All-Southern Conference Team. Huff was forced to sit out last year's campaign due to the Southern Conference's intra-conference transfer rules after following head coach Dan Earl after an all-freshman season at VMI.

The season kicks off on Monday, November 6 when the team hosts Covenant College inside McKenzie Arena at 7 p.m. Fans can catch a glimpse of the 2023-24 Mocs with the FREE "Boo & Gold" Halloween-themed fan event on Monday, October 30. Doors open for trick-or-treating at 5:30 p.m. (MORE INFO)
