KENNESAW, Ga. --- Chattanooga women's basketball hits the road once again on November 29 with the Mocs set to travel to Kennesaw, Georgia, to take on the Kennesaw State Owls at the KSU Convocation Center.
The Mocs (6-1, 0-0 SoCon) have found their footing in non-conference play following an undefeated weekend at the Daytona Beach Classic, and now UTC will have to prepare for a scrappy KSU team that will look to break up the team's mojo prior to their Sunday clash with Top 25 foe Mississippi State.

ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (6-1, 0-0 SoCon)
After the team's gut check against Marshall a little over two weeks ago, the Mocs have found their footing in non-conference play by stringing to together four consecutive double-digit victories to sit 6-1 on the young season and atop the Southern Conference standings at the moment. Chattanooga has been lethal from behind the three-point arc this year, currently ranking sixth in the entire in NCAA in three-point percentage (.412). Not only that, but UTC's stout defense has proven a major factor in many of the teams games, as the Mocs only allow 53.0 points/game and have an average scoring margin of +17.1 through the open seven games of action. The tandem of Jada Guinn and Raven Thompson continues to fuel UTC's offense, with Guinn averaging 17.7 and Thompson averaging 16.4 to pace the Chattanooga roster. Additionally the Mocs have been able to turn to freshman Hannah Kohn off the bench in key moments, as the sharp-shooting guard from Ovideo, Florida, ranks third in the entire country in three-point percentage (.571) while making 2.3 three per game for the Mocs.
ABOUT KENNESAW STATE (2-3, 0-0 ASUN)
The Owls have had a very up and down start to their 2023-24 season, opening the year 2-3 overall, but KSU is not a team for UTC to take lightly as two of Kennesaw's three losses have come against Power 5 opponents in Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech. The Owls' size will certainly play a factor in Wednesday's result, with KSU serving as a strong rebounding and blocking team to open the year by averaging 38.4 board per game and 3.4 blocks per game. Where UTC can exploit KSU is in the turnover department, which is an area the Owls have struggled in all season long. KSU currently averages 19.2 turnovers per game with a -3.6 turnover margin. The Owls have a trio of 10 points/game scorers to utilize including former ETSU standout Carly Hooks and former Top 100 prospect and Indiana commit Keyarah Berry.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
The last time the Mocs and Owls crossed paths was on November 21, 2022 last season when UTC played host to KSU at McKenzie Arena. The Mocs were able to hold a wire-to-wire victory over Kennesaw State, winning the matchup 72-59 to take a slight 3-2 advantage in the all-time series between the two teams. In the series, which first began in 2009, neither team has lost a game when playing on their home court with the Mocs holding a home record of 3-0 and the Owls holding a home record of 2-0.
TOP NOTES
• UTC is coming off of a year in which they won their 19th SoCon Tournament and made their 16th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
• The Mocs were selected to finish first in the Preseason SoCon Media Poll and second in the Preseason SoCon Coaches Poll.
• Both Thompson and grad transfer Jada Guinn earned Preseason All-SoCon nods by the conference prior to the season.
• Jada Guinn was named SoCon Player of the Week following a dominant performance in Florida where she received the Daytona Beach Classic MVP award.
• UTC has relied heavily on the two-headed scoring monster of Thompson and Guinn to start the year. The duo has scored a combined 239 of the Mocs' 491 points this year, with Guinn averaging 17.7 and Thompson averaging 16.4 per game.
• The Mocs currently rank as the sixth-best three point shooting team in the nation shooting at 41.2 percent. This is thanks in large part to freshman Hannah Kohn, who currently is ranked third in the country in three-point percentage individually (.571) while making an average of 2.3 three per game
50 SEASONS OF CHATTANOOGA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The 2023 season for the Chattanooga women's basketball team marks a major landmark for the program and the university, as UTC women's basketball officially celebrates its 50th season of competition as a university sponsored athletic program. Following the adoption of the Title IX legislation back in 1972, UTC added women's basketball, tennis and volleyball programs to its roster of athletic teams, bringing on five decades of history and success for each of the teams. Chattanooga WBB will be putting on multiple promotions and content pieces throughout the 2023-24 season to celebrate the program's history, culminating in the team hosting its 50th Season Celebration and Reunion during the Mocs' February 3 matchup against Furman at McKenzie Arena.
