CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's basketball team took sole possession of first place Thursday night and will host Wofford who sits a game behind Saturday night at the Roundhouse. UTC will honor its four seniors prior to the game for their final regular season game at The McKenzie Arena.

CHATTANOOGA vs. WOFFORD
The Mocs lead the series with Wofford 52-6 and is 24-3 against the Terriers in Spartanburg. Wofford snapped the Mocs' 45-game regular season win streak against the Terriers in 2019 in Spartanburg. It was Wofford's first regular season win over Chattanooga. Wofford joined the league in 1998 and knocked the Mocs out of the league championships. The next season, in Wes Moore's first year with UTC, the Terriers once again eliminated UTC from the postseason. Wofford has won the last three meetings, twice on their home court and once in Chattanooga.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
Chattanooga fell 64-51 to Wofford on the road. After trailing 21-6 heading into the second quarter, the Mocs stepped up their game and shot 45.5 percent in the frame, outscoring Wofford 19-12 and pulling to within eight points, 33-25, at the half.
Raven Thompson got the scoring started in the second with a layup early that was answered by the Terriers. However, UTC put together a 14-2 sprint anchored by Thompson with nine more points in the quarter to get Chattanooga to within five points, 27-22, with 3:04 to play in the opening half. Thompson led Chattanooga with 16 points, scoring all of her points in the middle two periods. She was 5-of-12 from the field and hit one from deep while making all five of her free throw attempts in the game. She had a team-best seven rebounds, two on the offensive end of the court.
Yazz Wazeerud-Din added 13 points for UTC. She was 4-of-10 on field goals and made five of her six free throw attempts while adding five rebounds. Also in double digits for UTC was Addie Grace Porter with 10 points, five rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot. Chattanooga shot 32.7 percent (18-55) on the night and was 5-of-23 from deep while shooting 90.9 percent from the free throw line, making 10-of-11.
Karsen Murphy was 2-of-3 from the 3-point line for six points in her seven minutes on the court. Cornelius had five rebounds for Chattanooga with a team-high three assists. Chattanooga outrebounded the Terriers 32-29 but gave up 12 points on five offensive rebounds. The Mocs scored 10 points on six Terrier turnovers while Wofford had eight on the Mocs 10 miscues. The teams were near even in the paint with Wofford edging Chattanooga 26-24.

RAVIN' ABOUT RAVEN
Freshman forward
Raven Thompson is taking the SoCon by storm. She ranks first among freshmen in scoring (14.3), rebounding (6.5) and defensive rebounds (4.5). She is second in field goal percentage (.521) and free throw percentage (.812). She is third in steals and offensive rebounds. Raven leads the SoCon in free throws made with 112, 10th most at UTC for a single season.

LONG-RANGE BOMBERS - 2nd IN NATION
The Mocs have made at least one 3-pointer in 735 consecutive games dating back to December 1999. That's more than 23 years! Chattanooga reached the 700-consecutive game mark at Wofford on January 27, 2022 in Spartanburg, S.C. According to current unofficial research, this is the second-longest streak in the nation behind Iowa State who reached 875 games this year dating back to Feb. 19, 1995.

UP NEXT
The Mocs will close out the regular season on the road in search of their first Southern Conference regular season title since 2019-20. UTC will take on Western Carolina Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Cullowhee then take on UNCG in the season finale Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
