Men's and Women's Tennis Capture ITA Team Academic Awards, Combine for Nine ITA Scholar-Athletes

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s and women’s tennis teams were honored for their efforts in the classroom following the 2022-23 academic year.

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Chattanooga Mocs men's and women's tennis programs each claimed respective Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team awards while the team teams combined to land nine ITA Scholar-Athletes, the organization announced its full honorees on Monday.

The women's program claimed its 13th-straight ITA All-Academic Team award while the men were tabbed with the honor for the ninth-straight season. The nine individual selections follow last year's record-setting total of 17.

The men's program finished with a 3.47 overall team GPA for the 2022-23 academic term while the women's team ended with an even 3.20 overall team GPA.

For a team to be named an ITA All-Academic Team, the program must average a team GPA of 3.2 or better (on a 4.0 scale).

To be labeled an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must contain an overall GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year.

For the second-straight season, the men's program saw seven student-athletes earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors which is just one shy of tying the program record of eight set in 2020-21. This year's honorees include Gabriel Castillo, Peyton Gatti, Cortland Grove, Kristof Kincses, Jordan McClure, Quinten Nevenhoven and Carter Ramthun.

On the women's side, Caroline Gibbens and Jessie Young were tabbed ITA Scholar-Athletes for the second-straight season. It marks Young's fourth career ITA academic honor while it's the second lifetime laurel for Gibbens.
