Smith Named SoCon Preseason All-Conference; Mocs Picked Fourth

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga Mocs senior captain Mackenzie Smith was named to the Southern Conference Coaches Preseason All-Conference Team, the league office announced today.

Smith earned First Team All-SoCon honors in 2022 and directed the Mocs to their first-ever SoCon regular season title. She was Chattanooga's top scorer and had a team-best five goals. Smith was second on the team in shots taken and third for shots on goal scoring game winners against Mercer and Western Carolina.

Chattanooga was picked to finish fourth in the voting, just one point behind Mercer and three behind UNCG in second. The Mocs received two first place votes. Samford, picked to finish first, received seven first place votes with UNCG picking up the 10th.

The Mocs kick off the season August 17 at Vanderbilt at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. They host Austin Peay on August 31 in the home opener at Finley Stadium. Admission is free to all Chattanooga home soccer matches and the South Gate entrance opens one hour prior to kickoff.
