CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga's Maddie Wheatcroft was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the week January 10-16, the league office announced Wednesday.
 
Wheatcroft competed in three events over the weekend at the season-opening UAB Vulcan Invitational. She set PRs in the 400- and 800-meter runs and was anchored the Mocs 4x400 meter relay team.
 
She won her heat in the 800 meter and finished third overall with a personal best time of 2:18.57. She also set a PR in the 400 meter.
 
Wheatcroft carries a 3.84 GPA in Exercise and Health Science. The Mocs return to action Friday at the Samford Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
