CHATTANOOGA---The 23rd-ranked Chattanooga Mocs are right back on the Southern Conference road this weekend at Furman. The Mocs and Paladins played twice last season with this contest making it three games in a little less than a year (344 days). Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m., on ESPN+ Saturday on ESPN+.
 
The Mocs enter at 2-3 fresh from a 17-10 road win at then-No. 23 ETSU on Saturday in definitive defensive textbook performance. The Paladins are also 2-3 as well as coming off a road rivalry triumph besting The Citadel 17-16.

• DB Reuben Lowery III is slated to play his 40th career game. Would join DT Marlon Taylor (41 entering this weekend) & DT Quay Wiggles (40). DB Jordan Walker is not far heading for into No. 38.
• Wins came in opposite fashion. Topped Portland State in an offensive showcase, 45-30 followed by a hard-fought 17-10 win in a slobberknocker at then-No. 23 ETSU.
• Went from season highs for total offense (567), passing yards (396), rushing yards (171) and first downs (29) to season low allowed in total offense (225), rushing yards (117) & first downs (12).
• Defense has allowed just 256.0 yards per game total - 150.5 per game rushing & 105.5 passing - in two SoCon outings limiting Mercer and ETSU to 10 points apiece.
• Average time of possession in two wins: 36:05.5. In three losses? 26:57.3.
• Mocs 2023 offense averaged a shade under 21 first downs per game. Recorded just 34 (11.3) in first three games of the season, but its amassed 51 the last two (29/22).
