CHATTANOOGA (Feb. 13, 2024) --- No love lost. The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team aims to continue its momentum in Southern Conference play with a Valentine's Day matchup against in-state rival ETSU on Wednesday night inside McKenzie Arena. The 100
th edition of the rivalry series tips off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
The game will feature "Y2K Night" with the FIRST 700 FANS receiving a FREE Mocs hat in addition to Valentine's Day flare around the arena. To purchase tickets,

Chattanooga (17-8, 9-3 SoCon) is coming off a huge Saturday afternoon 89-61 road victory at UNCG that vaulted the Mocs into sole possession of second place in the league standings, breaking a two-way tie with the Spartans, and moved the squad into the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25® at No. 22. The Mocs performance on Saturday was analytically its best-ever with the final 1.483 points-per-possession tally being the highest against a DI opponent in the KenPom-stat tracking era (since 1999).
ETSU (13-12, 5-7 SoCon) is winners of three of its last four with Saturday's tight 65-63 home defeat to Furman snapping a three-game win streak for the Bucs. Starting with an 82-73 loss at Furman on January 13, ETSU's last nine games have been decided by single digits, while playing to a 4-5 record over that span, including an 81-74 UTC win back on January 21 in Johnson City.

MOCS ROUT UNCG 89-61 IN EFFICIENT OFFENSIVE OUTBURST
- Chattanooga (17-8, 9-3 SoCon) exploded with an efficient offensive attack during an 89-61 rout at UNCG on Saturday inside the Greensboro Coliseum. With the win, UTC broke a two-way tie with the Spartans & moved into sole possession of second place in the SoCon standings. The Mocs, who have won nine of its last 11, vaulted to #22 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25® & is one of two SoCon teams (Samford, 10).

- Chattanooga & ETSU will meet for the 100th time in the long-time rivalry series which dates back to the first-ever meeting on December 15, 1961. The Mocs hold a slight 53-46 advantage in the previous 99 meetings. UTC has won six of the last eight overall meetings against the Bucs including an 81-74 win earlier this season in Johnson City on January 21.
ROAD WARRIORS CONTINUE STREAK
- UTC's 89-61 victory at UNCG marked its sixth-straight SoCon road victory with wins at Mercer (1/17), at ETSU (1/21), at Wofford (1/24), at WCU (1/31) & at VMI (2/8). The six-straight league W's on the road ties the longest such streak in program history.

OFFENSIVE EFFICIENCY KEY TO WINNING WAYS
- Chattanooga enters the week ranked 12th in NCAA DI basketball in effective FG% (56.6%) following a string of impressive shooting performances. UTC has shot 52.0%+ in five of its last seven games with three above 59.0% including Saturday's 59.3% (32-54) effort at UNCG. The Mocs 1.483 points-per-possession at UNCG (best against DI opponent in KenPom era since 1999) accounted for a 143.6 adjusted offensive efficiency rating, the best total in 16 years according to Bart Torvik's metric outlet.
BONHAM'S BLISTERING WEEK HIGHLIGHTED BY 31-POINT EFFORT
- Despite not being tabbed the SoCon's POTW,
Trey Bonham put together a blistering week during the road wins at VMI and UNCG. Bonham finished the two games averaging 23.0p, 9.0a, 5.5r and 3.5s per game while shooting 53.6% (15-28) from the field, 50.0% (5-10) from three and posting a 3.6 assist-to-turnover ratio. Bonham nearly notched a triple-double at VMI on Thursday after finishing with 15p, 11a & 8r before capping off the week by tying a career-high with 31 points in Saturday's win at UNCG.
BACKCOURT DUO OF BONHAM & HUFF AMONG THE BEST
- The backcourt duo of
Trey Bonham and
Honor Huff have fueled the Chattanooga offense this season with the tandem combining to average 34.1 points per game while shooting a combined 47.1% (228-484) from the floor. Bonham has averaged 17.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game since his return (16 GP) while Huff has totaled 16.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists per contest including a team-best 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio.
