McKinney Announces 2024 Soccer Slate

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga Mocs head coach Gavin McKinney announced the 2024 women's soccer schedule today. It includes several 2023 Top 25 teams including Tennessee, Alabama and Xavier.

"We are excited for the 2024 season," McKinney said. "The non-league schedule will be challenging; in my ten seasons, it is the most difficult set of fixtures we have put together before SoCon play. We believe there is great value in scheduling top opponents. Our returning group of players, along with our large incoming class, should be excited to push Chattanooga Soccer to the next level."

The Mocs open the season with three straight road games including at Tennessee on August 18. The team returns home to host Alabama Sunday, August 25 and Xavier on the following Thursday.
All three teams spent time in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll last season.

"It's great to be able to schedule the class of teams we have coming to Finley Stadium," McKinney added. "Chattanooga is a great soccer community and bringing this level of opponent is as exciting for the city as it is for our program."

McKinney's Mocs look to take that challenge off the heels of a SoCon regular season title in 2022 and the first 10-win season in 20 years for the ladies in 2023. The 2024 slate opens on the road in Atlanta against Georgia State on August 15. The match at Tennessee follows on the 18th and then on to Clarksville to take on Austin Peay on August 22.

On the 25th, UTC hosts Alabama and Xavier on August 29. UTC opens September on the road at Jacksonville State on the first then back home for a match against Tennessee Tech. UTC closes out the non-conference portion of the schedule on September 15 at Belmont.

The Mocs will travel to Wofford on September 15 and return home for back-to-back league matches against Samford (9/22) and UNCG (9/29). On October 3, UTC will take on Mercer in Macon, Ga., and return to the Scenic City to host ETSU (10/6) and The Citadel (10/10).

UTC will then hit the road to take on Furman on October 17 and VMI on October 20. UTC ends the 2024 slate at home, hosting Western Carolina on October 27.

Chattanooga will get things started early with an exhibition at Western Kentucky on August 5, days after reporting to campus and host Murray State on August 8.

All home games are played at Finley Stadium and streamed live on GoMocs.com.
