CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's basketball team is set to tip off the 2025-26 season with a special Education Day matchup against King (TN) University on Monday, November 3 at 12:00 p.m. inside McKenzie Arena.
Â
This marks the earliest season opener in program history and kicks off a highly anticipated campaign for the Mocs, who enter the season as the preseason favorites to win the Southern Conference title. The game will be played in front of thousands of local elementary and middle school students, creating an energetic atmosphere that has become a Chattanooga tradition.
Â
Returning to lead the Mocs is junior
Caia Elisaldez, the reigning Preseason Player of the Year, alongside fellow Preseason All-SoCon selection sophomore
Gianna Corbitt. The duo will be joined by key returners
Ava Card and Flode Flos van der Schans, while redshirt standouts
Kalifa Ford and
Izzy McPherson make their long-awaited return to the court after injuries sidelined them last season.
Â
New faces will also make their debut, including junior transfers
Sarah Owona and
Falon Bedke, as well as freshmen
Evie Bruce,
London Weaver, and
Kami Wilson, adding depth and versatility to head coach Deandra Schirmer's roster.
Â
The Mocs dominated King University in their last meeting, winning 75-34 during the 2024 Education Day game. In that contest, Elisaldez and Corbitt led a balanced scoring attack, and the team showcased its defensive prowess by holding King to single digits in multiple quarters.
Â
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the lively atmosphere and support the Mocs as they begin their journey toward another championship season. Tickets are available at the McKenzie Arena box office and online at GoMocs.com.
