CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – After 11 days of no competition during the Christmas Holiday, Chattanooga returns to action on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. inside McKenzie Arena to take on Southern Wesleyan (SC). The game marks the end of non-conference play for the Mocs.Â

Tuesday night's game marks the first-ever meeting between Chattanooga and Southern Wesleyan... Third opponent Chattanooga has faced this season for the first time in school history (W, 59-57 vs. Sacramento State) and (L, 64-66 vs. UC Santa Barbara)... Second game against a Division II school this season (82-34, W vs. King).
Comeback Queens
Chattanooga has rallied back to win three games this season when trailing by double-digits, including its last two homes games (13 vs. WKU) and (14 vs. Bellarmine).Â
Clutch Caia
In Chattanooga's last game on December 19 vs. WKU,
Caia Elisaldez delivered the game-winning play with 0.1 seconds left as she made a layup while being fouled to tie the game before knocking down the ensuing free throw to earn the win. It's her second game-winning free throw of the season in the final seconds, as she did the same against Sacramento State on November 28.Â
Corbitt Named SoCon Player of the Week
On December 23,
Gianna Corbitt was tabbed SoCon Player of the Week, marking the third time this season she has received this honor. This comes after she scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the double-double in the win vs. WKU.Â
Scouting Chattanooga
Chattanooga is riding a three-game win streak, which is its best run of the season. Additionally, the Mocs have won three in a row at home. Chattanooga has consistently found ways to win close games this season, as it holds a record of 5-1 in games decided by five points or less.Â
Corbitt leads the team and the SoCon in scoring at 16 points per game. She has been lethal from behind the 3-point line, shooting at a rate of 52.1%, which ranks third in the country. She is also Chattanooga's leading rebounder at 6.7 per game.Â
Elisaldez has been another key player for the Mocs, scoring 14.8 points per game and dishing out 5.3 assists per game which leads the team and ranks second in the SoCon. As the team's do-everything point guard, she averages 34.2 minutes per game, which is a team high by seven minutes.Â
Scouting Southern Wesleyan (SC)
Southern Wesleyan comes into the game riding a four-game losing streak, with its most recent games on December 19 and December 20, which were lopsided defeats to Florida Southern and Eckerd College out of the Sunshine State Conference. It's last win, came on a December 6 at Converse, where the Warriors came out on top with a 78-72 win for their first in Conference Carolinas play.Â
Makaylya Raines, a junior guard for Southern Wesleyan, leads the team in scoring with 12.6 points per game. She has scored in double-figures in each of Southern Wesleyan's last five games, including a 33 point outburst at Lees-McRae on December 13. Another key player for the Warriors is Savanna Nicholson, as the freshman guard scores 10.8 points per game.Â
In the team stats, Southern Wesleyan gives up 62.8 points per game while allowing 82.1 points per game. One of the things it does well offensively, is shoot threes, as it averages 7.2 per game with a 3-point percentage of 32.5%. The Warriors rank inside the top five in the Conference Carolinas, which is a 16-team league, in both stats.Â
