1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and Counting
Chattanooga is riding a seven-game winning streak. It is the first time the Mocs have done so since a 12-game run from 1/3/24-2/22/24. In the win streak, Chattanooga has moved from a losing record to an impressive 11-5 mark and 3-0 SoCon record.
Defensive Execution
The Mocs have held all three SoCon opponents they have played so far this year in the 40s. It's the first time they have held their opponent under 50 points in three straight SoCon games since the 2014-15 season (UNCG 46, Furman 45, Samford 32). Including the 46 points allowed against D2 Southern Wesleyan on December 30, the Mocs have held their opponents in the 40s in four consecutive games for the first time since 2014-15 (Stanford 46, Morgan State 40, NC A&T 43, SIU Edwardsville 49).Â

Scouting Chattanooga
As was mentioned earlier, the Mocs are riding a seven-game winning streak and doing so have moved up to No. 196 in the NCAA Division I Net Rankings. Chattanooga's go-to scorers are
Caia Elisaldez with 14.4 points per game (3rd in SoCon) and
Gianna Corbitt at 14.3 points per game (5th in SoCon). These two compliment each other on the court while also impacting the game in other ways besides scoring. Elisaldez accounts for 4.8 assists per game (2nd in SoCon) while Corbitt grabs 7.9 rebounds per game. During SoCon play, Corbitt is averaging 13.7 rebounds per game.Â
Izzy McPherson had a solid game at ETSU, scoring 11 points and knocking down two triples. McPherson averages 6.8 points per game, but as her shot continues to start falling more often, we could see that average steadily rise as the season progresses.
Ava Card is another player the Mocs can go to offensively, as she is averaging 8.3 points per game since being inserted into the starting lineup six games ago.Â
As a team, Chattanooga shoots the ball at a rate of 41.6%, which leads the league. Additionally, the Mocs are 32% this season shooting 3-pointers (3rd in SoCon). It's Chattanooga's defense though that will continue to be the No. 1 priority for Head Coach
Deandra Schirmer. In Chattanooga's three SoCon games, it has held opponents to single-digit quarters seven times, including four points for ETSU in the second quarter, the lowest any opponent has had versus the Mocs this year.Â
Scouting UNCG
The Spartans come into Thursday with a 12-7 record and 2-2 mark in SoCon play. Flash back to last week, it was a tough two-game stretch for UNCG in the Palmetto State, as it fell 56-69 at Furman and 59-61 at Wofford. That being said though, Head Coach Trina Patterson, who is in her 10th season at UNCG, and the rest of the Spartans, will be excited to return to their home court where they are a perfect 9-0 this season.Â
Jeni Levine, a gradate transfer from USC Upstate, runs the show for the Spartans at the guard position. She currently leads the SoCon in scoring with 14.8 points per game. Levine has scored 21 points in three games this year, including a SoCon game vs. Samford and on the road at then-No. 14 North Carolina. The Mocs will also need to be wary of guards Makiah Asidanya and Tasia Johnson who both are lethal shooters from deep. Adisanya shoots the three-ball at 40% (42-105) while Johnson is a 41.2% (35-85) shooter.Â
Looking at UNCG as a team, it leads the league in total defense, allowing just 54.5 points per game. On the flip side, the Spartans rank second in the SoCon in scoring at 68.5 points per game. Additionally, the Spartans have the most assists per game in the league, averaging 15, led by Levine with 56 and Johnson with 54 on the season. In their four SoCon games this season, they have scored in the 70s twice and won both those games. However, in the two losses, UNCG has scored in the 50s, something the Mocs will try to hold them to on Thursday.Â
