Box Score The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team dropped its season opener at Memphis today.  The Mocs won at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, but lost the match 6-1 in the team score. 

"We ran up against a really good team today," stated head coach Jeff Clark.  "We played pretty well, but were up and down at times.  I like the effort and there is a lot to build on."

Senior Kayla Jones, a Memphis native, teamed with senior Kelsey Coots for the No. 1 doubles win.  They defeated Anki Wind and Hanna Sohn (7-6 (1)) in the last of three doubles matches.

Jones also played No. 1 singles against Wind.  Wind opened with a 7-5 win in the first set, but Jones took the second 6-3.  Jones was up 4-1 in the third when Wind retired. 

"Kayla Jones had an outstanding day," added Clark.  "She and Kelsey beat a strong doubles pair and dominated the tiebreaker.  Kayla then showed great senior leadership with a come-from-behind three set win.  She had a big crowd of family and friends, so I was really happy for her to get that win."
