University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior women's tennis student-athlete
Kayla Jones is the Southern Conference Player of the Month, the league office announced today. Jones went 4-1 in singles at No. 1 to lead the Mocs to a 6-0 mark in February.
"She is certainly deserving of this honor," stated head coach
Jeff Clark. "She is off to a great start and is a big part of our recent winning streak."
The Mocs have won seven in a row and are 7-4 overall. UTC won its SoCon opener on Saturday, 6-1 at UNCG.
Jones has also been solid in doubles play. She and
Kelsey Coots went 6-0 at No. 1 last month and are 8-1 in the top spot in the spring.
UTC is back on the road this weekend for a match at Morehead State. The Mocs face the Eagles at Noon on Saturday, March 12. UTC won last year's meeting 7-0 and is 3-0 in the series.
