Why I chose UTC
"I chose UTC because coming a long way from home, I really needed to find a program who believed in me and, most importantly, would take care of me. Gavin and Martyn immediately gave me that indication. In the mix with a great location, great athletic programme and the backing support of my parents, I was on a really exciting journey! I thoroughly enjoyed my first year and can't wait for the season to begin!!"

Fact #10
Excelling academically at UTC is the first job of a student-athlete. That's why "student" is the first part of that title. The Mocs continue to stand out in the classroom and it shows when they get recognized for their achievements nationally.
Â
Becca Smith (2011) was a standout on the field and in the classroom. She along with Clare Latham (2015) earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). They are immediately available for Academic All-America honors.
Â
The Southern Conference recognizes student-athletes in several ways. The Fall All-Academic Team is chosen each year by the league for those student-athletes who have been enrolled at least two semesters and have participated in at least 50 percent of the season. The Mocs have had 94 named All-Academic since 2003.
Â
The SoCon Honor Roll is named at the end of the school year and all student-athletes who complete two semesters and play at least 50 percent of their team's contests are eligible. The UTC women's soccer team has had 277 named to the honor roll.
Â
The Southern Conference Executive Committee established the Commissioner's Medals during the 2004-05 academic year. A subset of the honor roll, the award recognizes those student athletes who participated in varsity sports at member institutions and posted a 3.8 grade point average or higher, were eligible the entire academic year and were members of the final squad lists. The GPA standard was raised from 3.5 prior to the 2015-16 academic year.
Â
The Mocs soccer team has had 101 student-athletes earn the Commissioner's Medal with 38 student-athletes maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout the academic year in that time.
