ABOUT CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs look to complete a 3-game homestand on a positive note Wednesday night hosting the Wofford Terriers. It started with a hard-fought loss to Furman, 73-66, followed by Saturday's 105-67 runaway win over Samford.
Just two games separate the top 7 teams in the Southern Conference standings. Western Carolina is the early leader at 4-0 with ETSU and Furman tied for second at 4-1. Wofford is fourth at 3-1 ahead of UNCG (Saturday's opponent) in fifth with a 3-2 mark with the Mocs and Samford tied for sixth at 2-2.
Saturday's offensive explosion is indicative of the Mocs start to SoCon play.
Matt Ryan and
David Jean-Baptiste lead four averaging double figures in the first four league games at 17.0 and 15.0 points per game, respectively. Stefan Kenić (12.3) and
Ramon Vila (12.3) join them.
It's been particularly hot of late with a 54.6 shooting percentage (66-121) over last 2 games: 54.2% (26-48) vs Furman, 54.8% (40-73) vs Samford. That improved the season percentage .014 points from 43.2 percent to 44.6. It also includes a .020 spike beyond the arc making 24 of 47 (51.1%) over that span to 35.8 percent overall.
Wofford comes in as winners of three straight and nine of the last 11 including a 68-64 win North Carolina. Its led by Nathan Hoover (13.9 ppg) and Storm Murphy (13.3). Chevez Goodwin adds 9.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest. They opened SoCon action with a narrow 1-point loss at ETSU (49-48) before wins over UNC Greensboro (98-92 in 2OT), at Samford (67-62) and Saturday over The Citadel (73-71).

3 NOTES TO KNOW
- The Mocs have not given up more than 37 points in a half since Troy had 41 in the 20 of the 84-80 overtime home win on Dec. 15. That's a span of 11 halves, an average of 30.8 points per 20 minutes.
- Tied school record with 17 3pt made in the Samford win. Fourth time, three have come under
Lamont Paris (at The Citadel-1/13/18 & at Georgia State-12/12/18).
- Season-high 3.11 assist-to-turnover ratio dishing out 28 against 9 miscues Saturday. 10th-best in school history vs DI opposition, top number since 3.20 (16/5) in the 2004 SoCon Tourney win at College of Charleston. 28 assists were the most in a DI affair since the Nov. 27, 2015 win over Alabama State. Ties for second-most against a league opponent behind 30 against Western Carolina on Jan. 24, 2004 and matching efforts against The Citadel (Dec. 1, 2007) and Western on March 2 in the 2000 SoCon Tourney.
