Soccer Drops Decision at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team fell 2-0 Friday to The Citadel in Southern Conference action at WLI Field. The Mocs fall to 4-6-2 overall and 1-1-1 in league play while the Bulldogs move to 8-3 on the year and 2-1-0 against the SoCon.
 
"Credit The Citadel for playing well today," Mocs head coach Gavin McKinney said. "We were, unfortunately, not sharp enough to start the match. We need to improve performance and look to bounce back on Sunday."
 
The Mocs edged the Bulldogs 9-8 on shots in the second half with nine corners in the frame compared to four for The Citadel.
 
The Bulldogs' Alex Madden scored both goals in the first half. The first came in the sixth minute and the second 25 minutes later.
 
Maggie Shaw led Chattanooga with three shots while Julia Perrusquia, Ao Yamada and Kendra Mueller each added two apiece. The Mocs had four shots on goal in the match.
 
Mocs' keeper Abbey Saddler matched her career-high with 11 saves on the day and has topped 100 for her career.
 
The loss snaps a six-game win streak the Mocs held against The Citadel.
 
Chattanooga returns to action Sunday afternoon at Mercer. The match is set to kick off 2:00 p.m. in Macon. Live stats will be available but the game will not be streamed.

  • Chattanooga fell 2-0 to The Citadel in Charleston Friday in a midday match … UTC moves to 4-6-2 overall and 1-1-1 in SoCon play … The Bulldogs improve to 8-3 on the year and 2-1 against the league.
