ABOUT CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL
Â
CHATTANOOGA--- Twenty-one days...that's how long it's been since the Chattanooga Mocs tipped off inside McKenzie Arena. It's been a ride with two games postponed for COVID-19 and a home game shifted to the road. Twenty-one days. That chasm is replaced by a rapid three games in five days spurt start with The Citadel.
Â
The last three in five days home stand was Feb. 7-11, 2013. That group also started with The Citadel, an 89-76 win, before a narrow 71-68 loss to College of Charleston. It ended win a 62-59 OT victory over Samford.
Â
The Mocs are riding a 3-game win streak. The SoCon road swing sweep at Western Carolina, ETSU and Wofford was the first such stretch since January 1997. The group looks to bring that road mojo home to the Roundhouse.
Â
Both Chattanooga (9-0) and The Citadel (7-0) went undefeated in non-conference and are coming off impressive Wednesday wins. The Mocs dominated Wofford in a 78-66 triumph, while the Bulldogs got past ETSU 79-71.
Â
David Jean-Baptiste (17.9) and
Malachi Smith (16.7) lead the way for the Mocs on season. The duo's combined for 45.9 percent (50-109) 3pt shooting in SoCon games. Hayden Brown is averaging a double-double (20.6 ppg, 10.8 rpg) and Kaiden Rice add 20.6 points per game averaging 4.2 3pt per game.
