Shaws Team Up in Mocs Shutout Win at Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga juniors Samantha and Maggie Shaw teamed up to lead the Mocs to a 1-0 shutout victory at Wofford Sunday afternoon in Southern Conference women's soccer action.

The Mocs improve to 4-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in SoCon action while the Terriers, who have played a SoCon-only schedule, fall to 2-3-1 on the year.

Maggie Shaw, running down the left side with the ball, crossed it and Samantha Shaw got on the end of it with a header for the score in the 62nd minute.

That would prove to be the game winner as both teams were only able to get two shots off apiece the rest of the way. Samantha Shaw had two of the Mocs four shots and Osa Iyare had one of Chattanooga's two shots on goal. Wofford also had four shots on the day but none served as a threat, not coming near the net.

Abbey Saddler earned her first full shutout this season and her second win. She has a 0.40 goals against average on the year.

The Mocs return home to host The Citadel Friday and Mercer Sunday afternoon. Chattanooga will honor its seniors Chloe Arnold, Lauren Dluzewski, Osa Iyare and Emily Szymanski prior to Sunday's matchup.
