CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team fell 1-0 Sunday evening in non-conference play to Georgia State at the UTC Sports Complex.

"Tough to drop a match at home," Mocs head coach
Gavin McKinney stated. "That said, I thought we had good control of the game. We were a pass away from creating a quality chance on multiple occasions. Unfortunately, it did not go our way in the end tonight."

The first shot of the game resulted in a goal for the Panthers. Callee Maughon dribbled down the right side and left-footed a pass into the box. It bounced back and was picked up by Ana Diaz who shot it in from near the top of the box, through the defense for the lone score of the match.

Despite having just four shots in the game, UTC had multiple opportunities to score.
Maggie Shaw's shot into the box was saved by the GSU keeper Maria Subies in the first half. In the second,
Adryan Darnell picked up the ball outside the top of the box in the 66
th minute. Her shot toward the top right of the goal was stopped by a leaping effort on the part of Subies.

Abbey Saddler got the start in the net for Chattanooga and recorded five saves on the night including three in the second half. Georgia State outshot Chattanooga 8-4. Shaw, Darnell,
Mackenzie Smith and
Faith Gober each had one shot on the night.

The Mocs will hit the road for matches at Belmont on Friday and Tennessee Tech Sunday this week.

"We will work hard at training this week to get ready for two tough away games next weekend," McKinney said.
