CHATTANOOGA – The Chattanooga Mocs' softball team defeated Butler 11-1 in five innings before falling to Eastern Kentucky 11-5 on Saturday afternoon at the Frost Classic.
UTC moves to 7-7 this season, while Butler fell to 7-6 and Eastern Illinois improved to 2-11.
The Mocs are back on the road next weekend as they travel to Auburn for the Jane B. Moore Memorial. Tomorrow's games of the Frost Classic have been cancelled due to weather.
GAME 1 RECAP
The game was scoreless entering the second inning when Butler's Monique Hoosen hit a solo home run to left field to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The home run ended 24 straight scoreless innings for
Brooke Parrott in the circle.
In the bottom half,
Presley Williamson began the frame with a leadoff double to center and later scored on a
Reagan Armour sacrifice fly.
The Mocs' bats lit up in the third inning. After
Liz Rodebaugh gave the Mocs the lead with an RBI single to left in the third,
Kaili Phillips came up with the bases loaded. Phillips drove the 3-2 pitch over the center field wall to give the Mocs a 6-1 lead with her first career grand slam. UTC completed the 10-run third with six hits to take an 11-1 lead.
Izzy Alley came in relief for the final two innings of action. She allowed one hit and struck out three in two shutout innings of work. Parrott moved to 5-1 on the season allowing just the home run with a walk and two strikeouts.
Rodebaugh went 2-for-3 at the dish, while Williamson recorded her second multi-hit game in as many days with a hit in both at bats.

Notable:
- The 10-run third inning are the most runs in an inning since the team plated a program record 13 against Kennesaw State on Feb. 10, 2019.
- Bailey Myers logged her first career hit.
- Phillips' 4-RBI game is the third of her career. She has drove in four runs twice and five runs once in her career.
- The contest is UTC's second run-rule of the season.
- It is the third time this season the Mocs have limited their opponent to three or fewer hits.
GAME 2 RECAP
Rodebaugh got the Mocs on the board in the first with a one-out single up the middle to score
Olivia Lipari.
The Colonels climbed back with two runs in the third before plating three in the fifth to hold a six-run lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, with
Kailey Snell on base, Lipari hit a two-run blast to cut the Mocs' deficit to two. Eastern Kentucky got the runs back in the fifth, scoring three on two Chattanooga errors.
With one on and two outs,
Jayce Purdy hit her second homer of the season to bring the Mocs back within three, down 8-5.
The Colonels added three more in the seventh to grab the 11-5 victory.
EKU's three and four hitters combined to go 4-for-9 with four RBI and five runs scored.
