CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team scored early in the second half to earn a 1-1 draw against Furman Sunday afternoon at Finley Stadium in Southern Conference action.

The Mocs move to 8-3-1 overall and 2-1-1 against the conference. Furman is 5-3-4 on the year and 1-0-3 in league action.

The Paladins struck quickly with a goal at the 5:01 mark of the match. Chattanooga's defense allowed just five shots the remainder of the half and kept Furman out of the net the rest of the match.

It wouldn't take long into the second half for the Mocs to find the equalizer, but the winner remained elusive despite the onslaught of attempts for Chattanooga.

Furman's keeper sent the ball to midfield.
Kennedy Heavrin picked it up and dribbled deep down the right side. She served up a pass to a charging Smith who picked up the pass in stride at the top right of the 18-yard box. She fired off a low liner into the left side of the net to tie the match 1-1 in the 49
th minute.

Later in the half, Heavrin's shot hit off the crossbar.
Betha Pucek hit one off the post and two more shots by the Mocs were saved by Furman's Addison Corn. Chattanooga outshot the Paladins 23-11 with eight shots on goal.

Caroline Richvalsky had seven shots and
Mackenzie Smith and
Birna Johannsdottir had four each. Keeper
Caroline Ekern recorded five saves in her 90 minutes in goal.

Chattanooga will hit the road for a match at Western Carolina Thursday evening in Cullowhee, N.C. The Mocs will host VMI (10/8) and Wofford (10/12) for the final two home matches of the regular season.
