Mocs celebrated seniors and wore pink for the annual Pink Out game.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs soccer team came away with a 2-0 victory on Senior Day Sunday. The Mocs improve to 9-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in Southern Conference action. VMI falls to 2-13 overall and 1-5 against the league.

Birna Johannsdottir, honored prior to the match along with Mackenzie Smith and Sofia Adrade, scored the game winning goal in the 31^st minute. Nicole Solete raced down the right side to pick up the ball just inside the box near the goal line. She fed her pass into Johannsdottir inside the six-yard box. With her back to the goal and her defender behind her, she turned and fired off a shot with her left foot from three feet out to put the Mocs on the board.

Chattanooga carried that lead into halftime with a 11-1 shots advantage at the break.

The Mocs built that lead with a second goal in the 80^th minute. Caroline Richvalsky put the ball on the foot of Johannsdottir just inside the top of the box. Her pass to Clarissa Salinas hit off a VMI player. Salinas caught up to it 10 yards in front of the net and sent a dribbler into the bottom left corner as the Keydet keeper dove after it.

Caroline Ekern pulled in two saves and earned her seventh win of the season and third shutout.

Chattanooga donned pink uniforms for the annual Breast Cancer Awareness match. Head coach Gavin McKinney is an ambassador for the American Cancer Society's "Men Wear Pink" campaign in honor of his wife Shari who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018.

The win moves the Mocs up a spot in the SoCon standings in a tie with Mercer for fourth place. Chattanooga will close out the home portion of the regular season slate this Thursday against Wofford. The game is set to kick off at 6:00 p.m. at Finley Stadium. Admission is free and concessions are available.
