CHATTANOOGA---The 23rd-ranked Chattanooga Mocs are living the Willie Nelson life…on the road again in the Southern Conference. This weekend is a trip to The Citadel for another back-to-back SoCon road weekend set. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m., on ESPN+.
Â
The Mocs are just a game out of first place in the league standings at 4-2, while the Bulldogs enter at 2-4. It is the penultimate SoCon game for both programs with Chattanooga hosting Samford next weekend and The Citadel traveling to Wofford.
Â
The Bulldogs have won back-to-back games topping VMI (13-10) and Samford (28-11) before an off week to prepare for the Mocs. UTC saw its 5-game win streak snapped at Western Carolina (38-34). With three games remaining, there's a march to the finish ahead with a path to the playoffs ahead.
Â
But first, there's The Citadel.
Â
"We just want to figure out if we can get a win Saturday first," Coach
Rusty Wright said. "We'll deal with the rest when we get to it. Is there one? Sure there is, but the only thing that matters is this Saturday. It's just like I said last week; that game was big and the rest of them will be. This one is just as big as that one last week.
Â
"We got to go get it figured out. We need to control what we can control and try to play as well as we can play every Saturday."
