Soccer Hosts Mercer Thursday in Pink Out Game

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team returns home Thursday to host Mercer in Southern Conference action at Finley Stadium.

CHATTANOOGA vs. MERCER
The Mocs hold a 8-6-2 lead in the series against Mercer, but trail the Bears 4-5-2 in Southern Conference action. At home UTC is 6-1-1 against Mercer.
 
LAST TIME THEY MET
A last minute overtime goal led the Mocs to a 3-2 win in the quarterfinal round of the SoCon Tournament in Cullowhee, N.C. In the final minute of the first overtime period, the Mocs made a move downfield led by Caroline Richvalsky. She fed the ball over to freshman E.G. Dillard just outside the penalty area in the middle of the field. Dillard dropped it to Salinas who was charging in from the right. She gathered the ball and took an extra step before booting the ball past the Mercer keeper just outside the six-yard box for the game winner with 50 seconds remaining.
 
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (7-3-2, 1-1-1 SoCon)
The Mocs opened SoCon play with a win over Wofford before falling at Samford. In its second road match of the conference season, UTC tied the match at UNCG to even out its record in league play. The Mocs are tied with The Citade, UNC Greensboro and Western Carolina for fourth in the SoCon standings. UTC is second in the conference with 25 goals and have given up just 14. Caroline Richvalsky is third in the conference standings with 16 points and Paige Thomas is fourth with 14 points. Each has six goals, third most in the league, while Richvalsky has a team-high four assists and Thomas has two. Caroline Ekern is second in the SoCon with seven wins and tied for first with five clean sheets. She has a 1.17 GAA and 35 saves.
 
ABOUT MERCER (5-4-2, 0-1-2 SoCon)
The Bears eighth in the SoCon standings. Mercer is third in the league with 23 goals scored and have given up 17. Payton Nutzman leads the SoCon with 19 points on seven goals and five assists. Morganne Eikelbarner is tied for fourth with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Lindsay Ball has four wins and two shutouts in goal with a 1.5 goals against average and a 74.6 saves percentage.
