Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Soccer Falls in Tight Battle at The Citadel

AWENDAW, S.C. --- Despite a strong offensive output and a late-game equalizer, the Chattanooga women's soccer team fell 2-1 against The Citadel at the Shea Family Fields in Awendaw, S.C.

Chattanooga falls to 8-4-3 overall and 2-2-2 in Southern Conference action while the Bulldogs improve to 5-6-2 on the year and 2-3-1 against the league.

After a scoreless first half, The Citadel broke open the scoring, connecting on its third shot of the game in the 58th minute. Chattanooga responded in the 81st minute with a strike from Paige Thomas, leveling the match with her eighth goal of the season.

The Citadel retook the lead three minutes later for the game winner. The Bulldog keeper registered 13 saves in the match.

Quinn Johnson and Caroline Richvalsky each had five shots and combined for seven on target while Thomas directed four toward the net.

Heavy rainfall flooded the field on The Citadel campus, necessitating a move northeast of Charleston and pushing the game up an hour.

The Mocs return to action Thursday, Oct. 16 at home to host Furman.

FROM THE HEAD COACH
"Difficult one to take. We were the team on top for most of the match and created more than enough chances, but just lacked that final bit of quality today. Three league games remain, and we know this group will give them everything to each one of them."
