Breakdown
- Both teams scored on the game's first four possessions with three of the four scores going for touchdowns of 20-plus yards. Ryan Ingram scored from 23-yards out midway through the first before Camden Orth found Markell Quick for a 21-yard touchdown strike to open the second, giving UTC a 14-10 lead that would hold true into the break.
- Chattanooga started the scoring in the second half with a Jude Kelley eight-yard touchdown rush on a fake field goal attempt (3Q 9:04) before ETSU immediately answered with a 60-yard house call from Jason Albritton (3Q 6:38), bringing the separation back to four at 21-17.
- ETSU regained the lead in the first minute of the fourth quarter as an Albritton one-yard touchdown plunge put the Bucs ahead 24-21 with an even 14:00 left in the contest. ETSU ballooned its lead to 38-21 (4Q 10:17) with a pair of touchdowns in less than a four-minute span.
- It was all Chattanooga from that point. With key defensive stops included, UTC cut its deficit to just three 38-35 (4Q 2:29) following back-to-back touchdown drives that covered a combined 165 yards while needing just six plays each.
- After the Mocs defense recorded a fourth-down stop at their own 33 with 1:55 left, Orth and the offense went all 67 yards in 11 plays as Jamarii Robinson hauled in an eight-yard touchdown reception with just 11 seconds left to send Finley Stadium in a frenzy.

Quotable
Rusty Wright, head coach – "It was a good win. We talked last night in our team meeting. We wanted to turn it loose and play with reckless abandon. We wanted to see what that looked like. Two weeks ago when we went to VMI, we needed to feel a win like that. A win where they had to fight on the road and get it done. They had to turn it loose and play without fear. That was a physical game. That is a talented bunch over there on the other side of the field. As crazy and as whacky as it got, we played until the end. I'm proud of those kids and those coaches."
Â
Jamarii Robinson, wide receiver – "We don't have a quit in us. No matter what the score is, we're going to fight and get back in it. This was a confidence booster. This one is over and it's on to the next week to try and get better."
