Soccer Takes on UNC Greensboro Friday on the Road

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team will hit the road for a Friday night match at UNC Greensboro. It is the Mocs lone match of the week.

CHATTANOOGA vs UNC GREENSBORO
The Spartans hold the series lead against UTC at 24-4-4 and have won the last three meetings. UTC picked up a win (1-0) in 2022 and a double-overtime draw (0-0) in 2021.
 
LAST TIME THEY MET
It was a defensive struggle on the pitch. The Mocs outshot UNCG 9-7 and had a 5-2 shots on goal advantage. Caroline Richvalsky had four shots. Her first two shots in the opening 11 minutes of play were on goal. Kelly Tuerff knocked a shot off the crossbar in the first half and Sophia Mize's shot was stopped by the Spartan keeper who had five saves. Paige Thomas, Sophia Mize and Zoey Mize each tallied a shot on goal. UNCG scored the lone goal of the match in the 59th minute lofting a shot to the far post and into the left side of the net.
 
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (7-3-1, 1-1-0, SoCon)
The Mocs had a strong non-conference season and got SoCon play started with a 4-0 win over Wofford before falling 2-0 at Samford. UTC is second in the SoCon with 23 goals led by Paige Thomas with six (2nd in the SoCon standings) and Caroline Richvalsky with five (fifth in the league standings). Richvalsky has a team-best 14 points with Thomas tallying 13. Caroline Ekern is second in the league with five clean sheets and has a 1.09 goals-against average.
 
ABOUT UNC GREENSBORO (2-8-0, 1-1-0 SoCon)
The Spartans picked up just one win in non-conference play then opened Southern Conference action with a 4-0 win over VMI at home. In their last outing, the Spartans fell 1-0 at ETSU. UNCG has 10 goals on the year led by Rina Ogimoto with three. Taylor Mentzer has two goals including the game winner against VMI. Emma Malone has nine starts in 10 games for the Spartans with a 2.61 GAA, 31 saves and two shutouts.
